The 40th annual Christmas Party for Underprivileged Children. This will be the 40th year that the VFW Cowns have hosted the party. It is estimated that over 5600 children have been entertained at the Christmas season with the many beautiful individual sponsors in and around our community. Around 156 children attended this party last year.

Sponsors purchase a gift for a child, wrap it, and bring it to the VFW Post for the party. Then they share a meal pf pizza, hot dogs, cookies, chips, pop and coffee with the kids and give their gift of love to the child they are sponsoring for the afternoon. Sponsors are asked to be at the Post by 1:30pm, so the clowns may thank them and they will be there to welcome their children as they arrive at 1:45-2pm.

Sponsorships for boys and girls ages infant through 18 are open to individuals as well as churches, schools, companys and organizations. Those wishing to be sponsors are asked to call Polly Welker 419-236-7175.

In the event that a person wishes to be a sponsor but is unable to attend the party, arrangements will be made for Santa to present their gift. Please send your sponsorship to:

This year’s children will be from the Samaritan House, Crossroads Crisis Center, Van Wert Salvation Army, Allen Co. Children’s Services along with needy children from area homes. If you feel that an area child needs to be at the party please call to enter them for this party.

Please, if anyone signs up a needy child to attend the party, make sure the child is there for the party on Sunday, December 1 @ 2pm. Deadline for entering local children for this party is Friday, November 22.
