My wife and I stay late at TV-44 each night as she uploads all the video to the website and I look ahead to the next day and week.
It's 2:50am and we're almost ready to go home, but I wanted to add a few thoughts on tonight's game.
*I don't have to tell you this, but the MAC could well win 3 State football Championships this year. Coldwater is obviously very very good (They even pass when its wet, and though there were plenty of turnovers tonight, the Cavs controlled the 2nd half despite them) and have to be amongst the favorites in Division IV. Marion Local, Anna, and St. Henry are all very very talented. It will be interesting to see who emerges as the Toast of this group over the course of the next few weeks. Can you imagine all 3 making the post-season? What a packed Regional that would be. Then in Division VI, you have Delphos St. John's and Minster (with Ft. Recovery taking a step backward tonight in its loss to the Wildcats). The Jays already have that victory over the Cats from Week 3 but remember, Minster goes south (in Region 24) while Delphos goes North (in Region 22). Both these teams have very strong defenses, though the Blue Jays may get the offensive nod the way they've been putting up points of late.
*Moving outside the MAC, I'm impressed with St. Marys and how Coach Frye has adapted to different personnel as they've come out of the gate 4-0. Shawnee is obviously very good as well. That will be quite the clash in Week 8. Ottawa-Glandorf may be starting to find its identity after the loss of so many valuable seniors. They have Elida next week, but will get a big test in Week 6 at St. Marys.
*The BVC also intrigues me this year. Liberty-Benton is always fun to watch, but Pandora-Gilboa and Leipsic may give the Eagles a run for their money in '08, and we can't forget Arlington who has a lot of that defense back from last year's playoff team. Our matchup of the week will feature the Vikings and Rockets in that big Week 5 clash.
*There's nothing like heading out to cover high school football games on friday and saturday nights. We have a lot of talented players, coaches, and thus, teams that have a chance to make some history come November.
