Buckeyes open camp

Buckeyes opened camp on Monday, perhaps the biggest news-- from a West Central Ohio perspective-- LB Curtis Terry has been officially moved to fullback, full-time, leaving an open position at strong side LB, which is great news for Coldwater's Ross Homan. Listed as Marcus Freeman's back-up, the red-shirt sophomore, who saw plenty of playing time 2 years ago as a freshman and last year prior to the season ending foot injury, looks to be the new starter at weakside LB, with Freeman shifting over to the strong side. Coach Tressel said for now, when the Buckeyes need a 3rd linebacker, Homan will be the guy.

Thursday is media day, the Buckeye Insider team will be in Columbus to chat with lots of players and try to begin to answer some of the lingering questions. How will Terrelle Pryor be used? How will the team bounce back from another dissapointing loss in the BCS National Championship game. Is the Big Ten in for another season of national media bashing? Does Rich Rodriguez get it? Can Ohio State beat that team up north for a school record 5th straight time? Those questions (or some form thereof) will be asked, but certainly not convincingly answered, at least not this week. It will be a while before we have those answers.

But here's one question we can conject upon, who will be this year's team captains? Generally, there's 4 captains, usually seniors (but not always James Laurinaitis case in point) and usually 2 on offense, 2 on defense. My guess-- Laurinaitis, Todd Boeckman are probably locks. As for the other two, I'll go with either Nader Abdallah or Malcolm Jenkins defensively and either Brian Robiskie or Steve Rehring
